Auckland Trip Highlights
Our Executive Director had a productive trip to Auckland, connecting with members and other creative businesses in Auckland, including: Fathom, Cause and Effects, Images, Department of Post, PRPVFX, Viva La Dirt League, Mighty Eyes, Rebel Fleet and Toy Box.
We met with screen educators and toured facilities from Auckland University of Technology to Media Design School. It’s great to see that there will be a virtual production volume available in Auckland at AUT soon!
We took the opportunity to gather feedback on the VFX Guild’s plans to deliver industry value research and host a post-production industry day on the 9th of November in Wellington with the SMSG.
We met with the NZ Tech Story, Screen Auckland and the New Zealand Film Commission. We discussed the possibility of promotional material for the post-production, FX and animation industry. We talked about how to team up to create content that works on all channels. VFXG has offered to coordinate some of this content, so that we can lend a hand in getting the message out about the amazing FX contribution to films releasing this year, such as: MaXXXine, Joika, Time Bandits, Sparticus, and Ka Whawhai Tonu.
